Cutting wood is a valuable skill....that is, if you're ever going to want to cut wood. Which you likely will if you have the ability. 

Swinging at a sharp angle like this gets a healthy amount of movement through your spine and puts heavy demand on your lats. I like training that is both developing skills whilst beings physically challenging. And if you think you've got your swing down pat, try swinging with your less-dominant side.
